What is my design process?

Design

Discuss: Let’s sit down together and discuss what you need from your website. The style, branding and overall goals of your new website.

Research: I’ll don my Sherlock Holmes hat and do some digging on your competitors and any websites that you and I have discussed in our initial meeting.

Proposal: I’ll take all your ideas and build a proposal around your brief, outlining deliverables, timeline and a price for the project. This will act as an agreement and contract between us.

Wireframes and design basics: I will build wireframe models showing all of the important layouts and elements of your new website. I’ll also present you with fonts and website colours for your approval.

Build

First draft: I will build the basic page layouts and elements of your new website (menus, headings, colours, etc) with sample content to give you an idea of the ‘look and feel’ of your new website.

Initial feedback: I will call or visit you (we could even screen share) to discuss the initial design and get your first round of amends. This info will guide me in making design changes before we start filling your new website with content.

Final design approval: We will collaborate to reach a point where you are happy with the overall design of the website and then move onto website content.

Content upload: I will ordinarily ask you to provide me with all the website content as soon as we begin our process. I am able to create content for your website if this has been agreed in our initial proposal.

Publish

Bug testing and browser compatibility: The final step before sending your website out to the world wide web is to check it works with all the popular, modern web browsers.

Final approval: I will seek your final sign off on the website project before hitting the big red publish button (it’s neither big or red).

Publish: We’ve done it! Together we have crafted a website that we can both be proud of; doesn’t it feel great?

Beyond Web Design

Once your website is built and live (or perhaps you already have on which is) I can offer a multitude of services to get your website off the ground.

Training: If you plan on updating your new website with content then I can show you how to login, set yourself up and make everything look beautiful.

Website management: Perhaps updating your site yourself is a big ask? Never fear, I can set up a fixed fee contract with guaranteed hours for website updates, as well as software and security patches, as and when their released.

Ad hoc support: If your budget is spent or you’re perfectly happy with your completed website as it is, then I can be on hand in future to update and upgrade your website when you need me.
